Tony Dungy memoir debuts on New York Times Bestsellers List at No.2

(July 25, 2007) Indianapolis Colts' Coach Tony Dungy's book, Quiet Strength, will debut on the New York Times Bestsellers list on July 29 as #2 on the hardcover, nonfiction list. (The book was #35 on USA Today's "Top 150" list for July 19 and is #4 on this week's hardcover, nonfiction list in Publisher Weekly.)

Written with Nathan Whitaker, the 2007 Super Bowl winning coach's book was released by Tyndale House on July 10, 2007 with a nine-day coast-to-coast media tour, plus a return visit to New York City where Dungy appeared last evening (July 24) on CBS-TV's "The Late Show with David Letterman."

Dungy, the first African-American head coach to win the Super Bowl and recipient of ESPN's "Best Coach" ESPY Award, and Letterman, an Indiana native, discussed football and prospects for the Colts' next season, as well as some priorities and principles that Dungy shares in his new bestseller.

In addition to New York City, Dungy's media tour included visits to Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, Indianapolis, and Tampa, with eight "sold out" in-store book-signings, including events in three stores in Indiana and three stores in the Tampa Bay area.

"Tyndale House is gratified by the overwhelming response to Coach Dungy and his book," said Yolanda Sidney, Marketing Manager. "It has been a delight to work with him, as well as the many retailers, media, and staff who have participated in the launch of Quiet Strength."

Tyndale has ordered a fourth printing of Quiet Strength, and by the end of this week, more than 250,000 copies of the book will be in print.

Tyndale House Publishers was founded in 1962 by Dr. Kenneth N. Taylor as a means of publishing The Living Bible. It is now one of the premier publishing houses in the industry. Tyndale products include numerous New York Times bestsellers, including the popular Left Behind series. Tyndale also publishes the New Living Translation Bible and many other resources for church and family. Tyndale House Publishers is located in Carol Stream, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago.
